The year 2015 ended on a good note for me. I am a Mangalorean living in Bangalore city (My roots are in Udupi-Mangalore coastal region). Yet, I have covered very few weddings which were completely a Mangalorean affair. In the past, I have photographed few Mangalorean Konkani Hindu weddings but I hadn’t been commissioned to shoot any Mangalorean Christian wedding till then. Then the month of December arrived and my clients, Sonali & Amit, were having their Mangalorean Catholic wedding in Bangalore city. And it was good to end the year on a happy note of adding another Mangalorean wedding to my portfolio.
The lovely couple had their wedding ceremony at the beautiful St Patrick’s Church, located in the heart of Bangalore city. And then their reception was held at the Grand Magrath hotel. For the ceremony and behind-the-scenes shots, I had a 2nd photographer assisting me on the shoot(Thanks, Rupak). The reception was photographed by me exclusively.
In between the two events, and fighting against fading lights we did manage to pull in a few outdoor couple portraits in the evening. The reception was a fun affair. From the first dance to the grand march, to the tunnel of love and the traditional Baila music to dance, it was fun all the way. There were times when I felt like grooving to the baila music. But then, I had a duty to perform – I was trusted by the couple to document one of the most important days in their lives – so I’ve put on hold my jig with the Baila dance for some other day!
