Sometimes it is worth waking up early in the morning and driving through empty streets. Especially, when you want to get portraits taken. One fine morning this summer, I traveled with Nandeesh and Suma to Hesaraghatta grasslands and the lake, located on the outskirts of Bangalore city. The agenda for that day was their engagement session (or the Pre-wedding couple portrait shoot).
Hesaraghatta lake is a man-made reservoir located about 20 km to the north-west of Bangalore city. The landscape around Hesaraghatta provides interesting backdrops for location portraits. In the vicinity of the lake there are many places of tourist attraction too. Prominent among these places of interest is the Nrityagrama school of dance.
Not far from the lake are the Hesaraghatta grasslands. The grasslands draw a lot of crowds every year. It is no coincidence that visuals of these grasslands have appeared numerous times in popular cinema. My only request to people visiting these grasslands – please respect the biodiversity of this place and keep it clean.
Our shoot was done at both the lake and the grasslands of Hesaraghatta. Suma’s siblings were my assistants for the day while I experimented with different lighting situations blending ambient light with flash lighting.
