A Konkani Tamil Wedding

It goes without saying that India is culturally diverse. As a wedding photographer, I find myself as an eye witness to this diversity. I think I am lucky to get a ringside view of cultural amalgamation which creates a new social identity for the present generation of Indians living in India and abroad. Here was a South Indian wedding which was a confluence of Mangalore Konkani customs and Tamil Brahmin customs.

Ankita and Aaditya, the couple, gave me this wonderful opportunity to be the photographer during their two-days long wedding celebrations held in Bengaluru city.

The bride was Mangalorean konkani. The Konkani family sure did have a lot of fun being witness to Tamil customs like Oonjal. And the Tamilian counterparts did have some fun watching the Udida Muhurat.

Let me stop talking, and let the moments captured through the wedding pictures do the talking instead.

Here is a gallery of selected photographs from this wedding. Click on any individual image to see the gallery as a slideshow in a lightbox.

It was great to be part of this intimate gathering of close family and friends. I wish I get more of such culturally diverse weddings. Do you know any couple getting married this wedding season? Would they want a photographer who sees weddings as stories? Then please share this gallery with them using any of the sharing options given below.

Thanks so much!
