Cubbon Park has been a go-to location for many shoots in Bangalore. One of the reasons could be that it is a freely accessible space to one and all. I have shot my couple portraits or engagement sessions there in the past. Last week, I had a family portraits session at Cubbon Park.
My clients, Priyanka and Karthik, were visiting Bangalore from London. They were in town with their two little daughters who were more than happy to be visiting their grandparents’ homes. And such a large family reunion in Bengaluru calls for a family portraits session, isn’t it?
After a series of email conversations with my clients, we decided to take a chance with the weather in the city. It had been raining on and off over the week, and we were deliberating whether to have the location indoors with a formal theme or take a gamble with an outdoor location and experiment with lights and a candid theme.
We eventually decided on Cubbon Park as the location. It had a picnic atmosphere and the kids loved exploring the woods. The weather was overcast, and hence the late afternoon lighting wasn’t that harsh. We managed to finish the shoot under two hours.
Would you believe our luck? It began to pour heavily immediately after the pack up!
The shoot had a mix of posed family portraits and some candid moments. It is always a challenge to get a large group of people (seven in this case) with varying age groups to pose. But, it was fun doing it.
